DVBA has announced new Junior Domestic competition rules for Autumn 2027.

The main change for families is a new transfer window and limits on how many incoming transfer players each club can accept.

Transfers open 7th November and close 13th December 2026

If your child wishes to move to another Junior Domestic club for Autumn 2027, you must submit the DVBA transfer request form during this window.

After 13th December, transfers will only be considered in exceptional circumstances.

DVBA will release the form shortly. Once available, we will share it with our members.

How the process works

· A parent or guardian completes the form, including the reasons for the proposed move and any specific team requests.

· The form is shared with the current club, the requested receiving club and DVBA.

· DVBA checks the request against the transfer caps and relevant competition rules.

· The receiving club decides whether to accept or decline the transfer, subject to those rules.

A transfer request does not guarantee a place at another club or in a particular team.

Clubs have until 13th December to accept or decline incoming requests, so decisions may not be immediate. DVBA will contact families and follow up with clubs if the deadline is approaching and a decision remains outstanding.

Understanding the new limits

Each club has a maximum incoming transfer allowance per season, with boys and girls counted separately:

· U8 and U10 combined: Two incoming players per gender.

· U12 and U14 combined: Two incoming players per gender.

· U16 and U18 combined: Six incoming players per gender.

Additional allowances apply to clubs with two or fewer teams in particular younger age groups and genders. There are also separate restrictions on A-grade placements and a limit of two club transfers per player within a rolling 24-month period. Please read DVBA’s full announcement for the detailed rules: [click here].

Other changes for Autumn 2027

· Running clock: The margin for the clock not stopping in the final two minutes of the second half will reduce from 20 points to 15 points.

· Representative players: In U10–U16, players who have played representative basketball within the previous 12 months cannot play in the lowest grade of their allocated age group.

If your child is staying with [Club Name], no transfer request is required. Please follow our usual registration communications.
