Hi All,
Long time no see! Long message – keep reading!
We miss you all and are excited that we are projected to be getting back to basketball very soon! We are pleased to announce that the long-awaited Spring season is planned to go ahead over the summer and into 2022.

ANTICIPATED COMPETITION DATES
Grand Final – Autumn 2021 Season:
Planned to be played on Saturday 13th November but these games may need to be spread over the following weekend, Saturday 20th November also. Teams in the Grand Finals (12.B2, 12.B3, 14.B3, 14.B4, 14.B5, 14.G2, 16.B1) please keep in touch with your team managers about possible get togethers to get into shape and prepare.

Spring/Summer Competition:
Rescheduled to commence grading in December, take a break over the summer school holidays and continue from January 29th 2022.
First 3 grading games will be played on the 4th, 11th and 18th December 2021. Grading games and the season proper will then continue from the 29th January 2022.
At this stage Basketball Victoria Return to Sport Guidelines level Orange 50 will still apply – see website for detail.

AGE GROUP REQUIREMENTS
Teams and players that have already been entered for the Spring-Summer season will have a DOB cut off of 31st December 2021 (as was applied when registering at June 2021), whereas any new teams or players entering in February 2022 will have a DOB cut off 30th June 2022.

ATTENDANCE REQUIREMENTS
As per advice from Basketball Victoria below, it is anticipated that venues will be required to only admit those who are able to show that they are fully vaccinated (if eligible) or hold a valid exemption.
As the club Parent/Player Expectation policy states that players under the age of 16 must be accompanied by a responsible adult, these companions will also need to also meet this requirement. This will apply whether attending for games or training. If you still need to make arrangements to be vaccinated, please consider achieving this before commencement of the season.

David Huxtable – General Manager, Member and Community Services, Basketball Victoria (Tuesday 12th October, 2021)
“The Victorian Government will soon announce their position on vaccination requirements for those involved in community sport. While yet to receive formal advice, we anticipate that people who are eligible to receive a COVID-19 vaccine will need to show they are fully vaccinated to play, coach, officiate or attend any basketball venue for the foreseeable future. We also do not have confirmation yet of the age group required to be fully vaccinated (ie 12+ or 16+). We hope to have detailed information on this in the next week.”

If you still need to get proof of vaccination please see: https://www.coronavirus.vic.gov.au/get-your-covid-19-digital-certificate

CONFIRMATION OF ONGOING PARTICIPATION
Players already registered in the Spring 2021 competition, are already paid up and considered registered for the Summer season start. If re-registration is required in PlayHQ, advice how to do this will be forwarded.
If circumstances have changed and you must withdraw, please advise the Club ASAP. Email prior to December 1st to secretary@millparkrebelz.com.au.
Players who notify the Club of inability to participate prior to December 1st, will be entitled to a FULL refund of the registration fee. After this date the usual club policies regarding Fees and Refunds (available on the club website) will be adhered to.

COACHING
Confirmation of ability to coach would be appreciated. We understand that circumstances change and would appreciate as much notice as possible if you are no longer available or have now become available to coach or assist with coaching.
It is anticipated that a joint club Coach’s Course will be run as soon as it can be arranged. Please look out for information regarding this as it comes to hand.

Dates and playing conditions may change as further decisions are made. However, we can’t wait to see kids off the couches, back on the courts, and moving again!
Warm bouncing regards,
Mill Park Rebelz Committee
